Southern Pacific Railroad Atlas for railfanning and modeling This section is an atlas of the various divisions of the Union Pacific that were once part of the Southern Pacific. Each subdivision consists of a Google Map annotated from the timetable as published by Altamont Press and from the Steam Powered Video's Railroad Atlases from Carstens Publications.
Union Pacific Roseville Subdivision (Ex SP) - Donner Pass Roseville, CA to Sparks, NV
UP Shafter Subdivision (Ex WP, some Ex SP) Elko, NV to Smelter, UT Because of the way UP has its present day disvisions, inclusion of this division is needed to get across the gap from Elko (Elko sub) to Wells (Lakeside sub)
Instructions These maps are fully
interactive - you can zoom in and out and pan around. With the
sattelite view you can see a detailed view right down to the individual
tracks. Click on "view larger map" to open map in its own window to see a larger area and more options.
These maps are great for railfanning. Unlike other railroad
atlases you can find all the nearby roads and and thus find ways to get
to viewing points. Another use for the maps are studying the plan of
the area you would like to model.
